prisoner reports persistent lack of testing, proper medical care, and sanitation

In early May or June, there was an outbreak in my housing unit, HU32. 60% of my unit was sick with the coronavirus and in quarantine, with at least 2 or 3 people sick in every pod. When people tested positive, I heard they were quarantined for 14 days, but they weren’t given any medication or any kind of treatment.

I was a pod worker in HU32, and during the outbreak, pod workers were put in harm’s way. We had to feed everyone and clean the whole building, and I don’t remember any extra sanitation measures being taken to protect us.

Then I was moved to HU7 in late July. I haven’t had my temperature checked since June; the jail isn’t checking temperatures or testing anyone in 7 at all. We used to get soap every week in HU32, but since I came to 7, I haven’t gotten soap in weeks. We don’t get proper cleaning supplies here either.

We used to get disinfectant wipes every other week in HU32, but here we don’t get any. We only get a broom, a scrub brush, and a spray bottle to clean.

Social distancing is impossible here. The deputies never observe social distancing, and some of them wear masks and gloves, but some don’t.

I’ve been spending more time than usual in my cell. I’ve been going through a lot emotionally, but I only get to see mental health staff maybe once every other month. I try to feel better by exercising and reading, but being stuck here, it feels like you have nowhere to go.
