diabetic’s blood sugar levels not checked in over a week despite requests

Julia* is a diabetic, but the last time her blood sugar was checked was over a week ago. She is very concerned because she says it should be checked every day. She says she recently felt extremely faint, like she was going to pass out – she thinks this is due to her blood sugar levels. Julia and another inmate both put in sick call slips to get their blood sugar tested. However, this request was denied, with staff claiming that this would “violate social distancing protocol.” Julia says this makes no sense, since they still do pill call every day. She says staff in that past has been able to come directly to her cell to check her levels – she is confused why this can’t happen anymore. She and the other inmate are going to continue to be relentless in their requests.
