Symptomatic prisoner experiencing medical neglect and fears for his life

Jim* can barely talk. He is experiencing severe body pains. He has not been able to get up, and has not left his cell in days. He has not been able to eat because he can’t get up. The only reason he could call me was they delivered him a tablet. He is running a fever of between 98 and 101. The medical staff has done nothing for him except to keep him locked up in his cell as a “quarantine.” Jim said he is afraid he might die. He has asthma, and told me that up until a few days ago the nursing staff was having the men “share” an inhaler. He said that up to 9 men were removed out of his pod. The ACSO website lists his pod as one of the housing units on quarantine. I am hearing from people in the outpatient housing unit that the medical treatment is to keep inmates locked in their cells, with some people sleeping on the floor. The nurses shrug and say there’s no treatment and so folks are basically in solitary confinement.
